Standard 1- Strategic Leadership
Principals will create conditions that result in strategically re-imaging the school’s vision, mission, and goals in the 21st century. Understanding that schools ideally prepare students for an unseen but not altogether unpredictable future, the leader creates a climate of inquiry that challenges the school community to continually re-purpose itself by building on its core values and beliefs about its preferred future and then developing a pathway to reach it.

Artifact 1- DLP Assignment

Assignment #1 for the first module of the NELA modified version of Distinguished Leaders in Practice training dealt with Standard #1- Strategic Leadership. In this assignment, the instructions were to assess our current school's progress regarding vision, mission, and core values.

Artifact 2- School Improvement Plan
|
While participating in the creation of the school improvement plan, I learned how each school goal aligns with the district goals, which also aligns with State Board of Education goals. During my residency, our administrative team strived to make school-wide decisions based on these goals.

Artifact 3- FMS Teacher Handbook
|
The FMS administrative team met during the summer and I partnered with the assistant principal to create of the 2015-16 teacher handbook. Through this task, I realized the importance of details and forethought when establishing expectations, processes and procedures.
